About the Book

In February 2018, a stranger asked the author to write a letter to his dying sister — the kind people write to say goodbye. He wasn't ready. Walking Her Home is what he wrote instead: three years of journal entries carrying him from the noise of everyday distraction toward presence, gratitude, and the slow work of letting go, as his sister Jen's illness became her final weeks, and then her absence.

The letter is in here too — it's the last thing in the book, finally written. For anyone sitting with loss, caring for someone who is dying, or still working out how to set down what they've been carrying, this is a companion for the walk.

"We travel together, all of us alone and wandering. Some collect stones, some collect souls, and here we are, all of us alone."

Craig Cazier is a father of two daughters and the brother who promised his sister Jen he'd write her a letter — and then spent years, and a notebook full of pages, working out how. Walking Her Home is his first book.
